A Full Stop for a Fresh Start

On March 11, I announced to those in attendance at Friday Night Fuel that The Journey as we know it will continue, but only until the end of May. Here’s why… In the summer of 2003, I was asked to start and lead a young adult ministry at Centerpoint Church (then called Colton First Baptist). For several [...]

“Spiritual formation . . . is the process by which the human spirit or will is given a definite “form” or character. It is a process that happens to everyone. The most despicable as well as the most admirable of persons have had a spiritual formation. Terrorists as well as saints are the outcome of [...]

Joy is what we experience when our longing for eternity is satisfied by an encounter with the Lord. When we meet with God through His Word and draw close to Him through righteous living we enter into fellowship with Him and get a taste of eternity. Psalm 1 reveals that those who take pleasure in and preoccupy themselves with God’s law will prosper and experience true joy. In other words, meditation on God’s Word irrigates our souls and makes us grow.

Our first official meeting as YOUNG ADULT JOURNEY was at the Nickelodeon Pizza on Valley Boulevard in Colton on November 7, 2003. Then, two days later, on November 9, we had our first official Sunday Morning Meeting. I talked about Jesus’ call to us when he said, “Follow me and I will make you.” And [...]

From [...]

“If you have failed on the journey. Ask God to give you wisdom. He won’t hold your sins against you. But don’t just give Him lip service; don’t just ask because you know that’s the right thing to do. That will do no good. You need to be willing to submit to His wisdom. Until [...]

I Dare You to Move

I am amazed at the way God stretches us. We think we’ve been stretched all we can be stretched. But as soon as we start getting used to the new us—as soon as we think we’ve got it—God puts us in a new situation or drops a new thought in our minds and, all of a sudden, we’re [...]
